I'm not too familiar with Ochre but I'm liking the laid back electronica of Like Dust in the Balance so far. A blissful ambience blends seamlessly with the lovely melodies and complex drum programming which, while frequently fast and busy, manages not to overpower the relaxed feel he's achieved with the help of Benet Walsh (known for guest spots with Plaid and Leila amongst other things) I'm getting a little bit of a Global Communication thing from some of the tracks which is always welcome. Ant informs me that Benbecula will be shutting down soon, which is a shame, so be sure to check out some of their stuff before they're gone forever..

What their label says...

The long awaited follow up long player from Ochre is released this year.  With guest writer and performer Benet Walsh, the result is a more mature and stylistically varied album from previous releases.  However, this release bears the usual hallmarks of yet another classic Ochre title with the expertise for
beautifully crafted songs from this classically trained artist.  Well worth the wait?  We think so.
Biog: Ochre has been recording since 2001 and has released a clutch of highly acclaimed titles on both the now defunct Troytronic label and Benbecula since 2006.  His most successful release to date is "Lemodie" on Benbecula. Benet Walsh is currently a member of the band "The Collectors" but has a long history primarily as a violinist with guest appearances on albums such
as Plaid's "Double Figure" and "Not for Threes" (Warp) and Leila's "Like Weather" (Rephlex).  Benet has co-written and appears on four of the tracks on "Like Dust of the Balance".

"This leisurely follow-up is just as lush and expansive, but the good news is that close inspection reveals a welcome structural complexity ... In a word assured." - The Wire for "Lemodie"
