Mobeer, mo' problems.. I think I've used that before. Number 007 in the beermat-mounted series features three whole 3" CDs for you likely lads and lasses (well, maybe not lasses) to wrap your Prince Charles' around. The first has Ian Hawgood (oh good), who runs the fine Home Normal label, contributing some lovely minimal droney bits for you to float off to. The second has Le Mepris which I think is French for something in the region of 'contempt' because I'm well cultured and watch French films. This disc's probably my favourite of the three, pairing up sinister-ised static-y broken radio sounds to bassy melodies made on something which sounds oddly slap bang inbetween an acoustic piano and an electric facsimile. Ryu Furusawa completes the set with some swooningly pretty string efforts, conjuring up an experimental chamber music feel apparently all on his tod before branching out into bubbling electronica. A pleasantly varied and excellent release as usual and sure to sell out in about three minutes..

What their label says...
Number 7 in our series of 10 mobeers sees us upping the ante and cramming 3 artists over 3 discs into one of our lovingly packaged envelopes. Firstly conceived as a way of getting all the wonderful stuff we'd been pleasured with at moteerhouse out into the spring daylight, it became clear to us that the 3 artists we'd chosen actually drifted into each just beautifully and that mobeer number 7 is more than just a nowthatswhaticallmobeer, it's a cohesive little beauty for you to lose yrselves in, although you'll have to get up off your arses and change the cd's. Starting off with the ever so productive and perfectly wonderful Ian Hawgood (curator in chief of the fledgling but sought after home normal label) we get a disc full of the prettiest dronesandscapes we'd heard in sometime and certainly the most charmingly minimal stuff we've put our moteer stamp to. Following up is le mepris, a Japanese girl at a piano or a male Berliner with a 12k release in the pipeline, the choice is yours, everyone was a bit confused for a while. anyway what we can say is that we're suckers for some sparse piano manipulations and this set really tinkles our old jo'annas. Finishing is off, so to speak, is a faraway friend. Ryu furusawa is a Japanese sound artist/composer /thereminist/musical saw player, an all rounder I'm sure you'd agree! He provides mobeer 7 with a fitting climax of delia derbyshire vs steve reich soundclashes with touches of richard d james euphoria. a climax indeed. and one we're ever so grateful for. stick it on your I phonethingywhatever, plug yrself in and get down the pub and enjoy it over a pint or two of something nice and hoppy ::
