OK here's a belting 2 CD on France's very own Arbouse Records. There's been some top releases on the label and this one seems to be about the best I've heard so far. Musique Pour Statues Menhirs is a 2 disc beast featuring exclusive (oh yes I said exclusive) tracks by Fennesz, Rafael Anton Irisarri, parlous, Serafine Steer, Benoit Pioulard, Astrid, Zelionople, Sylvain Chauveau, Jefre Cantu ledesma, Greg Davis, Schneider TM, Orla wren, Map-station, Mria Calix, Melodium, Jasper TX and loads more. 21 tracks spread over 2 discs and it's one of the most stellar line up's I've seen on a CD so far. I'm not entirely sure what the premise of the CD is as it's all in French and I rather untraditionally did Latin (in between being bummed at school ) but I suspect it's something to do with stones and outdoorsy ness. Actually I've just read that artists were invited to create a musical universe in 2008 around the collection of statues-menhirs of the Archaeological Museum of Rodez. Its a big proper delightful album though... both discs are crammed with neo classical and electronic pieces of music which are pure and simply melty on the ole ears. Me I'm loving it.... this is all I'm listening to these days and this is a fine example of a modern experimental music which I heartily endorse!

On the initiative of arbutus label recordings, and in partnership with the museum Fenaille * (Archaeological Museum of Rodez), artists were invited to create a musical universe in 2008 around the collection of statues-menhirs of the museum. An exceptional event, exclusively.

Necessarily subjective and conceptual terms, the project brings together artists officiating in various registers and varied, offering an eclectic range of music and very different climates. - On 25 April, opening the exit of the disc, 4 artists who participated in the project discographic come live in a museum, among the statues menhirs, it's an excellent French with Fennesz, Mira Calix, Mapstation and David Daniell. It is also the first time such an event takes place in a museum and a collection of this type is performed by contemporary artists. * The link with the museum, is all the more that the label is located Montrozier, a small medieval village, where Maurice Fenaille, which gave its name to the museum, is intimately connected.
