OVERVIEW: Esser's remarkable first foray into the world of the longplayer with 'Braveface' is a looking like a step closer to owning one of this years most rewarding and eclectic debut albums. It's sure to blast those winter cobwebs away and precedes Esser's first full headline tour of the UK in April. This follows his first ever stint on the arena stage supporting Kaiser Chiefs and a whole host of supremely special SXSW shows. While finishing his album with co-producer Lexxx, Ben has been busy collaborating and remixing with Little Boots, Kaiser Chiefs, The Streets, Golden Silvers and Cee-Lo. He also managed to squeeze in recording a Cure cover with the Mystery Jets for the NME and re-work La Roux's 'Quicksand' in his own Esser-esque style. 'Headlock', will be released as a single prior to 'Braveface'. With a radio edit mixed by Spike Stent (Kanye West, Radiohead, Madonna), 'Headlock' is a wondrous pop mash-up reminiscent of classic Beck or Ian Drury. It tells of the obsessions of being in love, sadly with the wrong person. The Big Pink offer a superbly deep and wonky remix guaranteed to get the dance floors filled, whilst James Rutledge comes in with a more alternative take on things resulting in a brave masterpiece.
