What their label says...

Visionary folk from the acclaimed Israeli singer/songwriter. His bruising honesty and uplifting truths will move you like no other artist this year. Essential. Idan Rabinovici was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and spent his childhood travelling between various cities and countries. A trained concert pianist, he left Israel and the world of classical music at the age of 15 to study in the UK and US. For three years Idan soaked up the world of music he encountered whilst far away from home. And then he was drafted into the army. Having finished his military service, Idan won a place at Oxford University to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Moving to England, Idan found new inspiration and recorded 'Bedroom Folk', his debut album, during his first vacation. Independently produced and funded, it was critically acclaimed in Israel and received widespread radio-play on both national and local stations. Word-of-mouth saw the album gain popularity far afield – reviews and airplay have cropped up in Netherlands, Poland and the US. Idan toured his home country extensively, building a loyal fan base that grows bigger with each concert. April 2009 sees the album receiving a limited UK release. With Idan already based in the country, plans are afoot for a nationwide tour in its support. By turns enchanting and evocative, ‘Bedroom Folk’ is an extraordinary introduction to an artist you won’t forget in a hurry. Reviews of the album are confirmed to appear in NME, The Fly, Rocksound, Organ, Plan b, DIS, Bearded and The Times . Idan will play his first UK dates with a full band in April and May. Press: "Pure musical magic. Listening to a new album for the first time, and being completely floored by the first few sounds… This is exactly what happens when first listening to "Morning Song", the opening track of Idan Rabinovici's debut album… From that moment on, one is completely captivated by Rabinovici's enchanting and intimate voice, which is both 40 years old and completely modern at the same time… " TimeOut. "...Beautiful arrangements, both delicate and complicated... There is not a dull moment in Rabinovici's debut album – it is one of those albums that you keep coming back to, to immerse yourself in his delicate voice and fragile sound… That is exactly what good music is meant to do."
