OK, first thing I notice about Dan Deacon's follow up to the inspired 'Spiderman of the Rings' is that 'Bromst' is massive in scope, gigantic some would say. It seems to the way to go in 2009!!! Big, bigger, MASSIVE! This record is epic and is definitely the sound of a man who is willing to up the ante and join the indie rock elite securing his place next to Animal Collective and the like. I've only listened to the first two tracks but this rekkid is already making me beam sunshine rays around the world and it's only 10 a.m!!! Yes! Opening track 'Build Voice' is gigantic, blissed out number of the like I hear alot of at the moment sounding like early Flaming Lips but with a tighter electronic pulse. 'Red F' is when it really kicks off proper with Dan Deacon clearly displaying great skill in electronic composition whilst not coming off sounding as Nathan Barley about as he did on 'Spiders...'. It's still danceable and full of intensity and energy but comes across sounding a little more mature, only a little more mind and that's just fine with me as I like my music to have a little charm and sense of humour, in fact it might be the most important criteria for making a great record. I can hear Dan Deacon's personality in each and every song and he sounds like the kind of guy I'd love to meet. Deacon likes to weave his tracks together taking in a little of everything as he works and it really works to his favour on this epic 70 minute record. He's the Wham City equivalent of the maddening genius of Max Tundra or the mind bending insanity of Quintron with the only difference being that you can hear the ambition in the sounds. Dan Deacon is taking it to the next level whilst not forgetting to have fun along the way. I won't go on about it further you just make sure the take a few minutes out and take a listen.

What their label says...

*  CARPARK ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF ONE OF 2009íS MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ELECTRONIC/  LEFTFIELD-POP ALBUMS.

- "Deacon is the Salvador Dali of electro... a refreshing example of someone rewriting rules of music as he goes along" THE GUARDIAN

- "a laptop-clutching oddball who will take you on a reckless joyride... Remorselessly entertaining" OBSERVER MUSIC MONTHLY

*  By now youíll know Baltimoreís Dan Deacon. Dubbed íoddballí by many, íinspired í by more heís one guy treading many thin lines - confidently straddling - between nutjob and genius, downright brilliant and insanely mind- bending, and with a live show from another world inducing more audience participation than a seriously skewed pantomime.

*  The fact is Dan Deacon is special. And now, three years since the creation of UK debut LP Spiderman of the Rings, comes the new album Bromst. Recorded and mixed by Brett Allen in North Western Montana studio SnowGhost, and clocking in at 70 minutes it fuses together the intensity of his live shows with his background in electro-acoustic
composition. The outcome is a collection of pieces that are intense and epic, but down to earth and welcoming. Bromst embodies the same energy and excitement as Spiderman of the Rings, but the craftsmanship and composition has a wider scope and richer palette .

*  And anyone whoís ever found themselves gathered around the mad scientist-like, Daffy Duck T-shirt wearing dude behind an array of multicoloured gaffa-taped equipment and mid tag-team dance contests, beckoning at strangers and taking part in frenzied sing-alongs will know the Dan Deacon experience.

*  His art is about community and how to organise and inspire it. Founding now well-known art collective Wham City, organising and running annually sold-out DIY music festival Whartscape, and conceiving, planning and curating massive 60 person/30 band tour Baltimore Round Robin, itís clear that bringing people together is the major theme in his work.

*  So here it is then, a more emotionally-charged, intricate and complex album, skilfully executed and woven together into a rich, dense, noisy dance pop thatís become Dan Deaconís signature sound.  Weíd expect nothing less.

*  YELLOW VINYL LIMITED TO 300 ONLY FOR EUROPE!.
