Ghost Box are back with a brand new CD by Belbury Poly. It's called 'From An Ancient Star' and it's a sort of exclusive as we have a bunch of upfront copies to sell before it's official release date later in January. I always get excited when we get a new release from Ghost Box after the Advisory Circle album blew my tits off (in separate directions). I like this record. The opener (Belbury Poly Logotone) kicks off somewhere between Tangerine Dream and John Barry with it's tinkly spy style keyboards and drifting proggy synthness. It's a great way to start a record and it brings you in nicely for what's on offer. Lots of retro spacey sounding synth noises mixed up with elements of folk and prog. It's well 70's and a lot of it sounds like theme music to long forgotten cult TV classics. One for you nostaligists to get all excited about as you're tinkling with your Ralf Harris Stylophone. Stick with it anyway as it grows on repeated listens. Nice!!

What their label says...
The
music of Belbury Poly is, by turns joyous,
naive and at times shot through with panic terror or
supernatural wonder. Like parallel world TV soundtracks
or nostalgia for an imaginary past.
