Infraction is a label which has constantly floated our ambient boat. I'm yet to hear a duff release on the label. The guy who runs the label must have magic robot music ears or something. Here's another corker from the label by husband and wife duo Celer. I can't imagine making music with my wife... it's hard enough being in the same room together sometimes. 'Discourses Of The Withered' is one of the finest pieces of ambient drone I've heard in ages. Waves and pulsing ambience washing over my ears some of the loveliest warmest sounds I've heard in a while. This is the first of 2 albums due from Celer on Infraction. This one is limited to 500 and the forthcoming 'The Everything And The Nothing' is limited to 300. Not heard that one yet but if it's anything like this then I can't wait. Apparently the sounds are created largely by strings and then manipulated to the joy that you hear. Anyone into Stars Of The Lid (again) is gonna love this. Brilliant!!

What their label says...
Celer is a husband (Will) and wife (Danielle) duo from California that use a variety of strings as the basis for their sound. Cello, viola, violin and the sounds are mixed in with field recordings, choir and then tape spliced in varying lengths to create reel-to-reel looping. Those sounds are then sampled, layered and processed. The result is a near orchestral drone. Though at times very haunting, it's brightly hazy ambient. Initially this was to be 1 full-length CD with a bonus CDR to accompany the first 100 copies. When they presented the bonus material, with field recordings mixed in obtained by Danielle over several months in India, the quality of the material was so high that I suggested it be a concurrent release.
