Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.What their label says...Limired to 200 copies only. About the Flowers Of Hell: Based in London and Toronto, the Flowers Of Hell are a 16 piece trans-Atlantic rock orchestra. Clocking in at nine minutes, Opus 66 (Parts 1-4), brings together a strong mix of Flowers regulars & guests including bassist Will Carruthers (Spiritualized, Spacemen 3), saxophonist Ray Dickaty (Spiritualized), and a string section comprised of Abi Fry (British Sea Power, Bat For Lashes), Julie Penner (Broken Social Scene, Do Make Say Think), & Mel Draisey (The Clientele). Part 1 of Opus 66 will also appear in a different mix on the group’s forthcoming 2nd album, Come Hell Or High Water which includes performances from the above plus people who’ve played in the Patti Smith Group, John Cale’s band, Guided By Voices, The Earlies, Tindersticks, The Hidden Cameras, The Early Years, The Ecstasy Of St.Theresa, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and others. / About Will Carruthers: Will is best known for his former role as bass player in Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, & Sonic Boom’s Spectrum. The recently recorded All Moon and Davy Love’s Locker appear for the first time on this EP and are a departure from the more song based approach of his current project, freelovebabies studio albums. Davy Love’s Locker was co-written with Kevin Cowen (Spectrum). When not busy with freelovebabies, Will can be found performing as a touring member of other acts including the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Duff Press are doing a full promo campaign for the awkward 26 release. |
