Between 2005 and 2007, former Hefner front man, Darren Hayman released four EPs detailing his British Holidays. Darren would take ukuleles, minidisks and casio keyboards to caravan parks, Butlins and B and Bs. The songs are sweet and tender, lo-fi vignettes about lost youth, faded photographs and half-understood Britishness. As well as painting a loving portrait of places we may have thought forgotten, the songs also reveal Haymans own fears of growing older and wanting to pull on the reigns of time. All the sold out EPs are featured here as well as 3 newly recorded cover versions of famous holiday songs; V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N. by Connie Francis, Holiday Road (the theme from National Lampoons Vacation) by Lyndsey Buckingham and Margate by Chas and Dave. The CD also comes with a DVD featuring 5 beautiful videos, shot by Darren himself and a documentary on the making of the album.
