Particularly fond of these Disco_r.dance 3" CDs. We've had lots of them over the last year, many rather cool fringe electronica stars making remarkable EPs and one of those peeps is Point B who's done stuff for Erratica, SCSI-AV & Combat. 'The Intrusive Thoughts' EP is shaping up to be a brooding beauty as I listen harder. Lots of clanking, playful mechanoid beats, an ominous bass groove and agitated digital perversion forming these grumpy ambling techno tracks that (pace-wise) emulate the more electroid end of the grime/dubstep axis but don't really fit in. They just hang around flicking boogers in gawping idiots pints, sneering half-smiles at sheep who have no imagination and chuckling darkly to themselves. Because these cheeky bleeders have a mischievous heart and bags of innovation whilst not being at all difficult to listen to. This is a forward thinking blend of many styles and reminds me a little in essence of that amazing genre busting Izu CD on Highpoint Lowlife from a couple of years back. A bit of a twisted but melodic journey with catchy little segments. An electronic satsuma of a CD?
